Creating the engraved cylinder

In this stage, the images are engraved onto a cylinder with cells that will hold the ink for printing. The dimensions of the cells and their depths should be set accordingly to achieve the desired colour intensities.

Proofing and testing

Once the engraved cylinder is created, it needs to be tested and proofed to ensure that no defects or imperfections exist in the print. This step can include various tests such as ink smears, light leaks, etc.

Plating

After passing all the necessary testing, the engraved cylinder is now ready for plating, which is a process where the metallic surface of the cylinder gets coated with an electroplated layer of e.g. chrome to make it more durable.
